ADAPTATION AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF CHINESE MASTER'S STUDENTS STUDYING IN BELARUS

The article considers various aspects of adaptation of Chinese master's degree students to the conditions of study in Belarusian universities. The study considers such types of adaptation as academic, educational and cultural. To study the corresponding types of adaptation, psychological methods developed by Chinese researchers were used. The study involved 354 Chinese master's degree students who were studying (at the time of the study) in 8 universities in Belarus on a voluntary basis. It was revealed that such factors as gender, choice of university, nationality and year of study do not affect the adaptation of master's degree students. It was found that academic performance is associated with various types of adaptation. Linear regression analysis shows that motivation for learning, learning method, learning ability, attitude towards learning, learning environment, academic adaptation, adaptation to the team, relationships between teachers and students, as well as the relationships of the master's degree students with their classmates have a significant impact on academic performance.

FEATURES OF DEVELOPMENT OF VALUE ORIENTATIONS IN PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AND NORMAL HEALTH

The article considers the problem of the situation of young people with disabilities in society and, in this regard, the peculiarities of the development of value orientations. It is specified that in modern society, people with and without disabilities, having equal opportunities, face problems of different levels. Despite numerous social support, people with disabilities find it more difficult to adapt to social life due to objective reasons associated with health problems. They integrate into society more slowly, have difficulty establishing contacts, and are more likely to encounter prejudices common in society. These factors, which affect the process of socialization, can cause a change in the personality structure and influence the formation of values in the sphere. Nevertheless, the results obtained in the course of the study indicate the absence of significant differences in the structure of value orientations between people with disabilities and healthy people. The results of the study presented in the article confirm the importance of further development of social integration of people with disabilities and the creation of a barrier-free environment.

VALUE ORIENTATIONS OF STUDENTS OF THE SPECIALTY “NURSING” AND NURSES OF HEALTHCARE INSTITUTIONS

The article presents a study of the value orientations of students of the specialty “Nursing” of the educational institution “Mozyr State Medical College” (n = 253) and nurses working in various types of healthcare institutions in the Republic of Belarus (n = 345). In the course of the questionnaire survey, the highest values for medical college students are the values of higher education, as well as the values of the content of activity, in turn, the values of the content of activity and working conditions are important for nurses. To a lesser extent, the values of self-expression and profession status are expressed for both groups.

IDEAS OF TIME PERSPECTIVE IN SPECIALISTS WITH VARIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE

The article considers time perspective as a multifaceted phenomenon that includes an individual’s psychological ideas about the past and the future, which are formed in the context of the current moment. The fundamental elements of the study of this concept are five key time orientations: negative past, hedonistic present, future, positive past, fatalistic present. Research shows that the level of development of these orientations in employees with different lengths of service varies significantly, which affects the ability of a specialist to apply and develop all of his or her competencies within the framework of assigned work tasks. To form a reflective approach to one's own life and activities, and to strengthen a positive perception of one's own professional future, a training program is offered for employees with different lengths of service.

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EATING DISORDERS AND ATTACHMENT STYLE IN STUDENTS

The article presents the results of a study of various attachment styles and their relationship with eating disorders in students. Analyzing the data, it was found that the most students were characterized by a low level of probability of having eating disorders, as well as a predominance of a secure attachment style. The study did not confirm a significant relationship between eating disorders and attachment style.

THE INTERRELATION OF THE COMPONENTS OF RESPONSIBILITY AND LIFE VALUES AMONG INDUSTRIAL WORKERS

The article focuses on such concepts as life values and personal responsibility. The relevance of studying the relationship between responsibility and life values among workers in industrial enterprises is described. As a result of the study, correlations of the components of responsibility and life values among workers in industrial enterprises were analyzed. The study used the I.A. Kocharyan's “Questionnaire for the diagnosis of the symptom complex of responsibility”, as well as the “Value Questionnaire” by S. Schwartz. Spearman's correlation analysis method was used to process the data. Significant negative moderate correlations were found between ethics and the following life value variables: independence, safety and universalism. The empirical study also found positive moderate correlations of self-affirmation with variables such as hedonism, independence, stimulation, and universalism.

EXPERIENCE IN ADAPTING THE LIGHT TRIAD QUESTIONNAIRE (LTS) IN A RUSSIAN-SPEAKING SAMPLE

This article describes the process of adapting the Light Triad Questionnaire (LTS) for the Russian-speaking sample. The questionnaire aims to examine aspects of prosocial personality traits: “Kantianism” (treating people as ends rather than means), humanism (recognizing the dignity and worth of each person), and faith in humanity (confidence in the fundamental virtue of people). The purpose of the study was to adapt and validate the Light Triad Questionnaire (LTS) in the Russian-speaking culture. In the process of adapting the questionnaire, a sample of 339 people was formed. In the process of adapting the Light Triad, an asymmetric translation from English into Russian was performed. The cultural specificity of the LTS questionnaire was confirmed. The scales of the methodology have high enough reliability in terms of internal consistency of their items, in terms of retest reliability. The results of approbation of the questionnaire “Light Triad” (LTS) showed that the four-factor structure of the questionnaire is reproduced in the Russian-speaking sample.

RELATIONSHIPS OF THE BIG FIVE PERSONALITY TRAITS TO PROBLEM USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA

Active use of social networks often forms dependence on them, which leads to psychological distress and problematic use of social networks. The results of an empirical study are presented, the purpose of which is to identify the hypothesized relationships between the traits of the Big Five personality model and addiction to social networks. The empirical basis of the study was the results of online testing of 6444 respondents (average age M = 23.2 years, SD = 10.2), among them 3729 women (M = 23.7, SD = 10.7) and 2715 men (M = 22.5, SD = 9.5). The study used the Russian version (author S.A. Shchebetenko) of the Big Five Inventory (BFI) questionnaire and the social network addiction questionnaire (authors V.P. Sheinov and A.S. Devitsyn). The study found that addiction to social networks is interrelated with all traits of the Big Five personality model: extraversion, neuroticism and openness to experience are positively interrelated, and agreeableness and conscientiousness are negatively interrelated. The average values of all these personality traits in women are statistically significantly (p < 0,001) higher than the corresponding indicators in men.

MODEL OF STUDENTS’ VALUE ATTITUDE FORMATION TOWARDS THE LIBRARY IN THE CONTEXT OF ITS BRANDING

The content of the model of students' value attitude formation towards the library in the context of its branding is presented. The criteria and levels of students' value attitude formation towards the library as a brand are substantiated ‒ low, medium and high.

The article reveals the concept of «social interest»; presents the results of a study of the essence and development of social interests of secondary school students; notes the role of project activities, as well as the possibilities of social partnership in the development of social interests of students.

The authors present the results of a study of the essence of students’ social interests and their readiness for social partnership, as well as an analysis of the effectiveness of their project activities based on a survey conducted using the author’s questionnaire «Social Interest and Project Activities», as well as using J. Crandall’s method «Social Interest Scale». Prospective areas of project activities for students are proposed: educational and developmental, career guidance, educational and ideological, scientific, environmental, valeological, legal. For each area, the goals of project activities, social partners and sample forms of project work are given.

CIVIL IDENTITY OF A STUDENT IN THE PROBLEM FIELD OF PEDAGOGICAL RESEARCH

EXTERNAL STUDIES AS A FORM OF TRAINING MEDICAL STAFF IN BELARUS AT THE END OF THE XIX - BEGINNING OF THE XX CENTURY

The reasons for the appearance of an external form of medical personnel training on the territory of Belarus in the late 19th and early 20th centuries are considered. The supervisory tasks of the rules for passing special exams for obtaining a class rank are revealed. The specifics of the content of exams for each medical specialty are described. There is a high interest in externships as a form of professional education and the opportunity to work as a secondary medical specialist.

SOCIAL AND PEDAGOGICAL ACTIVITY IN NATIONAL SYSTEM OF EDUCATION AT THE BEGINNING OF 20th CENTURY

The article examines the specificity and the experience of implementing social and pedagogical activity in Belarus in the 20s of the XX century. In the introduction, the relevance of the chosen topic is determined, the purpose of the study is substantiated, the author's understanding of the concept of "social and pedagogical activity" is indicated, and the factors of development of the phenomenon under study are identified. The main part analyzes the specifics of the activities of public organizations as subjects of the implementation of social and pedagogical activity in relation to children with problems in socialization, reveals their directions and objectives, identifies elements of historical and pedagogical experience that can be applied in the modern education system in the activities of social pedagogues and socio-pedagogical and psychological services. In conclusion, the significant role of public organizations in the genesis of social and pedagogical activity is emphasized. The results of the study can be used to improve and enhance the effectiveness of social and pedagogical support for children, as well as in the activities of public organizations.

PORTRAYAL OF D. I. MENDELEEV AND HIS EPONYMS IN SOVIET AND RUSSIAN CHEMISTRY TEXTBOOKS (1924–2024)

An assessment and analysis of the historical and current representation of Mendeleev and his eponyms in chemistry textbooks is presented. 8 Soviet (1924–1991) and 3 modern Russian chemistry textbooks (1991–2022) were selected and analyzed by method of content analysis with purposeful sampling and certain criteria. The periods in the presentation of Mendeleev and his eponyms were identified: silence (1924–1940), growth and bloom (1940–1985), recession (1985–2022). It aligns with previously revealed pattern in medical education. Underestimation of Mendeleev's achievements since Russian Empire and the Soviet government ‘s decision to glorify domestic scientists are given as reasons for low popularity of Mendeleev and his eponyms in textbooks of the 1920s and their flourishing in textbooks of 1940–1985, respectively. The disappearance of eponyms entails a loss of historical context, of memorization aids, decreased critical thinking, scientific and cultural literacy, humanism in education, and disruption of continuity.

METHODOLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF AXIOLOGICAL DETERMINANTS AS A BASIS FOR THE CONCEPT OF PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF A FUTURE TEACHER-MUSICIAN

The article reveals the axiological determinants of the music educational process, which are the methodological basis for the personal and professional development of a future music teacher.

The concept of personal and professional development is presented in a number of blocks, reflecting: 1) the social order of society for a competent specialist in the field of musical art; 2) the goal of conceptualization - the formation and development of personal and professional qualities of a music teacher based on basic values; 3) the value foundations of both musical and pedagogical and educational and musical activities of the subjects of the educational process; 4) theoretical positions of the concept, revealing: the sensitive period of professionalism formation; the main relationships and dependencies of the individual with the music educational process; axiological determinants as personal and social constructs of consciousness, fundamental positions of a professional; 5) the normative component of the concept represented by systemic, axiological, activity-based and competence-based approaches and the principles that reveal them.

POSSIBILITIES OF STUDYING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE TRAINING OF MASTERS OF PEDAGOGICAL SPECIALTIES

The article explores the opportunities and prospects of using artificial intelligence (AI) in educational activities, with a focus on master's programs at the Faculty of Pedagogy of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. The study examines key AI technologies, including machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and robotics, as well as their potential applications in the educational process. A comparative analysis of the awareness and use of AI among master's students from Belarus and China was conducted, revealing significant differences in the perception and implementation of these technologies. The results of the study highlight the need to integrate AI into educational programs, which can enhance the quality of education and prepare specialists for the challenges of the digital era. Particular attention is paid to the ethical aspects of AI application, including issues of confidentiality, transparency, and accountability. The article provides recommendations for adapting educational strategies to effectively utilize AI in pedagogical practice.

This article presents the development and design of methodological aspects of using applications developed in computer algebra systems (CAS). A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF CHINESE AND BELARUSIAN RESEARCHERS’ IDEAS ON THE PROCESS, METHODS AND FORMS OF PATRIOTISM AND CIVICISM DEVELOPMENT IN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

The purpose of the article is to analyse and summarize Chinese and Belarusian studies addressing the problem of understanding the process, methods and forms of patriotism and civicism development in young people. According to the undertaken literature analysis, there is a terminological ambiguity regarding the conceptualization of the process of patriotism and civicism development in students. The process of patriotism and civicism development is indicated in several terminological ways as 1) as civil-patriotic upbringing; 2) as two separate areas: civil upbringing and patriotic upbringing;3) as a process of civil or civil-patriotic socialization; 4) as civil education. The literature analysis also shows that there are many similarities between China and Belarus in the understanding civic-patriotism development process. The article provides the author’s empirical data regarding Belarusian university lecturers’ understanding differences between the mentioned terms. As the authors think, the survey results may have been caused by the terminological mixup existing in the academic discourse.

MILITARY-POLITICAL IMAGE: MECHANISMS OF FORMATION AND SPECIFICITY

Military-political image is considered as the primary unit of military-political consciousness. The following properties of military-political images are revealed: integrity, controllability, cognition, continuity. The article offers the author's definition of the concept of “military-political image”, and also gives a definition of the military-political picture of the world. An analysis of the mechanism for creating the image of a victim as one of the military-political images and as a relevant technology for waging information warfare is carried out. The process of constructing the image of a victim is considered from the standpoint of D. Alexander's theory of cultural trauma, as well as the theory of victimization. It is concluded that historical victimization can be part of state policy on constructing national identity.
