Abstract

The presence of organic pollutants (surfactants, pharmaceuticals, etc.), which are dangerous for human health and the environment, in sewage sludge from wastewater treatment plants is reported. The results of anionic and cationic surfactants and pharmaceuticals detection in active and raw sludge are given. For the aforesaid objects fluorometric methods for determination of anionic and cationic surfactants, as well as the method of measuring the content of pharmaceuticals using high performance liquid chromatography are approved. The ecological classification of pharmaceuticals using to assess their danger in the surrounding environment and determine the value of relevant damage and risk of their use for public health purposes is reported. Pharmaceuticals consumption in the Republic of Belarus for the period 2010–2015 are investigated and the environmental classification of the most popular pharmaceuticals is represented.
