Abstract

Тhe paper investigates possibilities of forming porous granules from silica sand for cleaning wash water. It is shown that when the concentration of iron in the wash water is up to 200 mg / dm3, the combination of filtration rates through a load of porous granules based on quartz sand with a porosity of more than 50% and regeneration by reverse washing, the cleaning efficiency reaches 90%. The porous structure of the granules is formed due to the burning of the pore-forming agent during sintering of the samples in air at a temperature of 850 ºС. The resulting liquid phase envelops the quartz grains, heals the cracks that appeared earlier and, upon subsequent cooling, creates the strength of the granular material. For example, filtering of the rinsing water obtained after regeneration of the experimental installation of iron removal, evaluate the effectiveness of the retention of impurities of the investigated material.
