THE FORMER HOUSE OF MERCHANT MURAVJOV IN GRODNO – ARCHITECTURAL MONUMENT OF THE XIXth CENTURY

Abstract
The article dwells on the issues, relating to one of the most important monuments of the historical and cultural heritage of Grodno – the former house of merchant Muravjov. The erection of the house dates to the end of the XIXth century. The outer dimensions of the house are relatively small, still the building plays an important role in formation of the unique urban ensemble of the Soviet (former Market) Square – the main square of Grodno. The architectural composition of the facade of the building is analysed, techniques of plastic composition are shown, the potential of the subsequent use of the house of merchant Muravjov in forming of the city environment is revealed.
