Abstract
Approaches to the design and/or checking of structural systems in accidental design situation included in prescriptive regulatory and technical documents not only do not have a single/uniform methodological basis, but in some cases establish unrelated verification criteria and safety formats. With regard to checking of structural systems in accidental design situations, the most rational approach to design can be considered based on the response/behavior (per-formance based design) of a structural system or, in other words, the output result (outcomes-based design), the general provisions of which for the design conditions of RC – structural systems are set out in fib MC 2020. According to this document, performance-based design is an engineering approach to the design of building elements based on agreed design goals and objectives, engineering analysis and quantitative assessment of the compliance of alternatives with the set design goals and objectives using accepted engineering tools, methodologies and criteria for acceptance of the out-put/outcomes result. The article presents the main provisions of the new paradigm of designing constructive systems based on the output result.
