DEVELOPMENT OF THE VOLUMETRIC-SPATIALAND PLANNING STRUCTURES IN THE HISTORICAL CITIES OF BELARUS

Abstract
Principles of reconstruction design of historical cities on the basis of modern tasks of forming the optimal urban environment are examined. Projects of reconstruction and restoration of historical city centres are based on the analysis of the urban environment and are used to create a harmonious relationship between architecture and a human being. A comprehensive analysis is based on historical and graphic as well as cultural studies. The impact of relief on the formation of the layout, appearance and silhouette of urban development is revealed. The authors consider peculiarity of planning structures’ development of the two typologically different historical cities of Belarus – Polotsk and Nesvizh – and propose the ways to improve them in a compositional aspect.
