The reference list must be numbered automatically and formatted without paragraph indentation. Sources must be listed in the order of their appearance in the text. Citations in the main text must be given in square brackets, for example: [1, p. 12] or [1]. When several sources are cited, the following format should be used: [1, p. 12; 5. pp. 89-90] or [1-8].

In accordance with international publication ethics, authors are recommended to keep the self-citation rate below 10% (within the whole reference list).

Only peer-reviewed sources should be included.

DOI (Digital Object Identifier)

References to journal papers must include a DOI. The DOI can be checked on the CrossRef website (https://www.crossref.org/guestquery). by entering the paper title in English. The official English title of the Russian-language paper can be found on the Scientific Electronic Library ELIBRARY.RU website (https://www.elibrary.ru/querybox.asp). If an paper does not have a DOI, the URL (link to the full text of the referenced source) must be provided instead.

The bibliographic list of the whole publication can be verified by using a special Simple Text Query Form: http://www.crossref.org/SimpleTextQuery.

Step 2: enter the registered email address and paste the reference list into the corresponding fields.

Please note that not all publications have DOIs, A DOI is assigned only to electronic documents. For example, printed books without electronic versions are not assigned a DOI.

The list of cited sources consists of two sections:

REFERENCES - must follow the American Psychological Association (APA) style. Each reference must include the following elements in accordance with APA standards:

  • surname of the author(s) in English,
  • year of publication (number only),
  • title of the work in English. For Russian-language sources, the title must be provided in both English and transliteration,
  • publication details (place and publisher).

To generate a transliterated reference list, it is necessary to use the transliteration tool at http://translit.ru (with the BSI system selected).

Book With Three or More Authors

If a book has seven authors, all of them must be listed with an ampersand placed before the last author’s name. If the book has more than seven authors, the first six, followed by an ellipsis should be listed. Then the last author should be named.

Footnotes are used for citing abstracts, dissertations, standards, websites, statistical reports, papers in socio-political newspapers, normative and legislative acts, dictionaries, encyclopedias and other reference books, reports, and archival documents. Footnotes should appear at the bottom of the page, be numbered consecutively, and be formatted as notes in accordance with Section 6 of STB 7.208-2008. “SIBID. Bibliographic Reference. General Requirements and Guidelines”. The connection between the footnote and the main text should be indicated by a superscript reference mark placed on the upper line of the font. The “References – Footnotes” menu of Microsoft Word should be used to format footnotes. Sources cited exclusively in footnotes should not be included in the reference list.
