Abstract
This article presents the results of the investigation dealing with material thickness effect and the thickness of the spiral blades of a dielectric substrate on the performance of a plane logarithmic spiral antenna held in a software package HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator). For the study copper is chosen as a spiral blade material with the thickness of 0,1; 0,5; 1 mm, as the substrate material – dielectric with dielec-tric constant Ɛ = 2,2, its width being 1, 2, 3. The results of the research are presented in the graphs: voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), radiation pattern, input impedance. The effect of material thickness on the uneven characteristics of the antenna has been analyzed. The recommendations for the expansion of the frequency range of a plane logarithmic spiral antenna through optimal choice of thickness of the metal and dielectric have been given. The results can be used for broadband antennas creation in the technology of space communications and radiolocation.
