Abstract
This article is devoted to the study of the influence of the crisis of European society in the end of 19th – begin- ning of 20th century on the development of the psychologism in the woks of Italian author Italo Svevo. Psychologism as the element of manner and style of Svevo is studied in the process of its development basing on the three novels: “A Life”, “As a Man Grows Older”, “Zeno’s Conscience”. This kind of analysis gives the possibility to see the dynamics of the development of psychologism in the works and notice its peculiarities. The novels of Svevo have their importance as the first example of psychological prose in Italian literature. The conditionality of the writer’s ideology by the historic background can not be denied. That is why the possibility to study the impact of historic events on the author, his artistic and aesthetic system and his works is important and essential.
