SYMBOLS AND ARCHETYPES IN THE STORY BY G. TOMASI DI LAMPEDUSA SIRENA

Abstract

The article tells about the most significant facts of the literary carrier of the Italian writer Tomasi di Lampedusa, and in particular about his last work, known under several names, the most common of which is Siren. The article presents the literary analysis of this story., which allowed to determine the system of characters, their functions, to detect some allusions in the text, as well as to identify symbols and archetypical images in it in order to understand better the content of this literary text as well as the identity of its author. All this led to the main conclusion that the theory of the archetypes of K.G. Jung, in combination with other research methods, will help most deeply analyze various literary works and assess the degree of influence of the collective unconscious on the consciousness of a particular writer.
