CONCEPTUALIZATION PECULIARITIES OF “WANDERING” IN THE POETRY OF ENGLISH ROMANTICISM

Abstract
This article dwells upon the concept “wandering”, its main models and ways of representation in the poetry of English romanticism. The work defines dominant semantization variants of this concept, its ideological and cultural grounds. The attention is focused on the major characteristic features of the concept’s semantics in the form they were worked out in the poetry of English romanticism. Some constituent items of the concept’s romantic representation and its key structural elements are analyzed: movement, imagination, space of romantic wandering and its toponymic dominants (mountains, the sea), forms of wandering (a walk and a voyage), a traveller as the subject. The article deals with the sources of romantic stereotypes such as poetic antinomies (“romantic wandering – tourist travel”, “danger – comfort”, “a lonely suffering wanderer – a crowd of idlers”, etc.) and meditative vs. dynamic wandering dichotomy.
