SEMANICS OF THE FOLKLORIC EPITHETS IN BYLINA TEXTS

Abstract
Epithet is an important stylistic element of the folk poetry. The peculiarity of the folkloric epithet is usually seen in its constant disposition. The disposition is defined in a long-term tradition of the folk poetry style formation. The tradition reinforces constant significant and socially important features of a subject or event. As a rule folkloric epithet retains linguistic archaic character, historic semantics in particular: lexical-semantic structure of the folkloric epithet differs from the structure of the relative adjective in the present literary language. The sphere of the folkloric epithets is closed and well-defined by tradition. In other words a few means are used to identify a lot of things.
