NEW CHARACTER IN BELARUSSIAN NOVEL OF THE EARLY XXth CENTURY (ON T. GARTNY’S VIRGIN LAND JUICES AND A. MRIY’S SAMSON SAMASUI’S NOTES)

Abstract

The article analyzes Virgin Land Juices by T. Gartny and Samson Samasui’s Notes by A. Mriy. The novels show how the revolutionary events of the early XXth century on the Russian Empire territory influenced the world view and the behavior of their participants. From a social point of view, these events necessitated the socialization of several generations into a completely unpredictable system, ideologically based on a rigid communist platform. In T. Gartny’s novel the character actively supports the revolution and new trends taking them directly. As far as the A. Mriy’s work is concerned, the character is a timeserver who uses circumstances for personal gain undermining the essence of the revolutionary transformations in the country. Their behavior is typical for the period of dictatorship of the proletariat.
