Abstract
The article examines the revolutionary breakdown of the classical tradition of theater, achieved by representatives of the avant-garde movements of the early 20th century and absurdist playwrights of the mid-twentieth century with the help of a dramatic experiment, shows the inextricable connection between experiment and the tradition of drama using the example of the absurdist play, analyzes the experimental transformation of the antitheatre aesthetics through the prism of postmodern sensibility of the late XX - early XXI centuries.
