STREET NAMES OF URBAN SETTLEMENT BIALYNICHY IN THE TOPONYMICON OF THE MOGILEV REGION: THE PROBLEM OF REPETITIVENESS

Abstract
The article examines the problem of repetitiveness of names of intra-settlement linear objects in the toponymicon of Mogilev region, specifies the factors and causes of this phenomenon, identifies resources for the elimination of urban omonymy through the example of urbanonymicon of urban settlement Bialynichy. Depending on the frequency of repetition in different settlements, five categories of these units are specified, according to which urbanonyms are ranked. It is claimed that repetitiveness of the names of intra-city objects is one of the most distinctive features of not only the analyzed urbanonymicon, but also of the urbanonymic space of Belarus in general. Among the factors which determine the highest popularity of these names are the correspondence of the existing landscape model of space in the toponymy of Belarus to the use of symbols of the Soviet era. As resources for the elimination of urban anonymity, names related to the history of Belarus and, first of all, to the history of the settlement in which they operate are recommended.
