ARTISTIC SPACE AND TIME IN T. S. ELIOT’S EARLY POETRY

Abstract

Time and space are important categories for modernists arty. Eliot as one of the most prominent representatives of the Anglo-American modernism, a distinctive approach to artistic creation of space and time, realizing the philosophical and aesthetic concept of the author. To create a specific chronotope, Eliot uses a variety of artistic techniques. There are a great number of them in the poet’s early works. The reason to that is that Eliot was still trying to find his own style. Therefore the poet uses marking lexemes, grammatical forms and oppositions. Due to this oppositions time and space are opposed to themselves, which makes a special effect, correlating to Eliot’s and other modernist poets’ aesthetic and philosophical views.
