Abstract
Image of a road has existed in the literary texts since the ancient times, though changes of the literary traditions and epochs transformed it significantly. Functions of a literary road, way and travel are plentiful and diverse. In Jane Austen’s Juvenilia these images have never been the object foe research. Nevertheless, analysis of their manifestation in the author’s texts as well as of their specific functions, gives an opportunity to understand the writer’s creative goals and the methods she used to achieve them.
