VARIATIONS OF TYPES AND FORMS OF RUNNING AWAY IN THE AMERICAN NOVEL OF FORMATION OF THE 2ND HALF OF THE XXth CENTURY (A CASE STUDY BY J.D. SALINGER AND BY J. UPDIKE)

Abstract
A contrast between depiction of mental and physical running away in the american novel of formation of the 2nd half of the XXth century is researched in this article through studying forms which belong to a certain type of running away depicted in the ‘Catcher in the Rye’ by J.D. Salinger and ‘Rabbit, Run’ by J. Updike. Artistical devices which help the authors to depict running away are also studied. In ‘The catcher in the Rye’ mental running away is expressed in the forms of daydreams and creativity of the main character and shown with the help of direct inner world depiction by the author. In ‘Rabbit, Run’ physical running away is expressed in the forms of physical escape and passion of the main character and shown with the help of indirect and summarized inner world depiction and with the help of outer world details depiction by the author.
