TRANSFORMATION OF THE SCANDINAVIAN MYTHOLOGICAL IDEAS IN THE LEGENDARY SAGAS

Abstract
It is compared how the ideas of the Old Norse mythology are represented in so-called legendary sagas and The Poetic Edda. It is argued that these ideas differ in these two groups of literary sources due to influence of Christianity and a new creative approach applied by medieval authors at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries.
