Abstract
The article examines the features of the poetics of the novel “The Sun Also Rises”, whose purpose is the artistic expression of the axiological crisis in E. Hemingway’s work. It is pointed out that the novel contains a system of literary devices that explicitly and implicitly express a feeling of life dissatisfaction. The axiologically relevant motifs of “loss”, “compensation,” and “avoidance of thinking about traumatic experiences” perform a plot-forming function, which means that they indicate that value issues are key in the work.
