MAN AND WAR IN EARLY STORIES BY VASILIY BIKOV: THE EXPERIENCE OF LEO TOLSTOY’S TRADITION

Abstract
Despite the problem of assimilating the artistic achievements of the Russian military prose of the 19th century by Belorussian literature has been elaborated, the impact of the Russian military prose of the 19th centurytradition, including the artistic experience of Leo Tolstoy, to the “small” genres of the Belorussian military prose of the 20th century has been insufficiently attended. The regularities of the succession of artistic solutions in military themes’ realization in early stories by Vasiliy Bikov is being researched. On the stuff of the chosen works of literature are determined the regularities of understanding by Vasiliy Bikov in the early period of his creative work the artistic discoveries made by the classic of the Russian military prose of the 19th century. A conclusion has been drawn that assimilating Leo Tolstoy’s artistic discoveries stimulated the search of new artistic devices of depicting war and determined the further evolution of Vasiliy Bikov’s military prose.
