Abstract

The article reveals the process of coordinating the scientific activities of historians of Belarus in 1954- 1963 – during the development of the concept of national history of the Soviet period. It is stated that the relevance of the problems of scientific works (mainly PhD theses) was formed through the holding of national meetings of scientists, the creation of a Scientific Council for coordination at the Institute of history of the Academy of Sciences of the Belarusian SSR. The course of events, participants in discussions, and current issues of work are described in detail. The research is based on unpublished documents from the Central scientific archive of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (Fund 3, fund 6) and the National archive of the Republic of Belarus (Fund 4p). The conclusion is made about the dependence of historical research on the party policy. The author traces the leading and controlling role of the Central Committee of the PBC.
