Abstract

This article studies the parliamentary debates devoted to British policy in Austria, which was occupied by 4 countries – USA, USSR, Great Britain and France in 1945-1955. Austrian occupation was a burden on Britain, creating a lot of serious issues discussing in parliament, such as the creation of efficient administration in Austria, denazification, repatriation of Austrian citizens, reduction and withdrawal of troops, establishment of food and fuel supplies, the cost of occupation, and the Austrian State Treaty in particular. The study is based on an analysis of published documentary sources of the National Archives (United Kingdom), and Commons Sittings volumes.
