Abstract

The article examines the concept of creativity in Virginia Woolf’s critical essays within the context of modernist aesthetics. The analysis focuses on the key works from V. Woolf’s collection The Common Reader. A comparative study of the ideas of W. Pater, H. Bergson, and V. Woolf reveals a conceptual rethinking of the role and functions of the creative individual. The research substantiates the conclusion that V. Woolf developed an integral philosophy of creativity based on the ‘co-authorship’ of the writer and the reader.
