Abstract

The article, based on a wide range of archival and previously published materials, the author considers the formation, supply and personnel of the destruction battalions in Belarus in the initial period of the Great Patriotic War. Analyzing all aspects of this problem, the author shows the strengths and weaknesses of the organization of these units. The author concludes that despite a number of problems, the formation's data were successfully generated and ready to perform the tasks intended for them. his topic is practically not covered in national historiography, which undoubtedly indicates its relevance. Destruction battalions became one of the units that consisted of the civilian population, and which had a significant impact on the course of the fighting in the initial period of the Great Patriotic War.
