ANTHROPONYMIC SPECIFICITY OF VITEBSK-SMOLENSK BORDER ZONE (ON THE MATERIAL OF MALE NAMING SYSTEM)

Abstract

The statistical characteristics of the naming systems of Vitebsk and Smolensk are compared depending on historical and cultural actuals. The similarity between the tendencies in dynamics and qualitative structure of the naming systems in the 2nd half of the XXth century is accented; there is a lower level of concentration and local “fashion” for names in a number of stable peculiarities of Vitebsk anthroponymicon. The tendencies appeared in the period of “reconstruction” such as decreasing in the data of concentration and broadening the limits of a name system, increasing of an anthroponymic periphery at the expense of active using of rare and the rarest calendar, foreign, slavonic names, the influence of the confessional factor on the nominative practice affect the development of the anthroponymy in the Belarusian-Russian border zone at the beginning of the XXIst century. The specific feature of the border anthroponymy of the first decade of the XXIst century is the “activization” of male naming systems.
