TO THE ISSUE OF RECONSTRUCTION OF THE HISTORICAL TOPOGRAPHY OF THE VILLAGE EKIMAN

Abstract

This study presents the results of the generalization of the architectural and archaeological research of the village Ekiman. The history of this settlement is traced in chronological order, with the described circumstances and the time of its origin and development as the ancient trade and industrial part of Polotsk, located behind the fortification wall, which was called “posad” at that time. This paper also provides information of the local old residents about the street network and offers the description of its formation, superimposed on the modern geodetic survey. The paper gives some data on the origin and development of the estate Ekiman, offers the description and partial reconstruction of buildings on the basis of the available full-size remains. An attempt of their dating and construction chronology, identification of their design features has been made. The information about the develop-ment of the village Ekiman in Soviet times is also collected in this work.
