A LITERARY ALLUSION AS ONE OF THE FORMS OF THE ATHOR’S PRESENCE (IN THE WORK OF FICTION BY EXAMPLE OF JANE AUSTEN)

Abstract
The article dwells upon a literary allusion (in its widest sense) as one of the forms of the author’s presence in the literary text by example of Jane Austen’s novels. It is also proved that such allusions provide a researcher with an additional reliable source of information about the author and her personality as well as about her creative activity in general. For analyses were chosen novels of different periods of the author’s creative activity in order to obtain as much information as possible. All allusions are classified into groups depending on the literary school they belong to. On the grounds of the carried analyses a conclusion is made whether a literary allusion can be viewed as one of the forms of the author’s presence in a novel, as well as about the functions of this literary device.
