THE NATURE OF INTERTEXTUALITY IN CHRISTA WOLF`S NOVEL «ACCIDENT»

Abstract
The article is devoted to research of intertextuality and its role in one of the works of modern German writer Christa Wolf, well-known to readers of the former Soviet Union. The novel “Störfall. Nachrichten eines Tages” (“Accident. A Day’s News”, 1987) is of special interest to the Belarusians as it was written just after Chernobyl accident. The main character of the novel, the German writer, thinks over the consequences of tech-nical transformations of the World around, of every person’s role and place in it. The book deals not only with Chernobyl, but also with other catastrophic ancient as well as modern events which have been worrying the mankind throughout the history being the results of men’s irresponsibility and recklessness. Among these events – The Tower of Babel Destruction, World War II, The Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and etc. It`s really possible to call the consciousness of the main character a quotation one as in her thoughts she continually addresses to widely known historic facts, myths, fairy tales, national songs, her memory continually revives “fragments” from other author's works which makes the novel itself meaningful.
