INCREASING RESISTANCE OF WELDING JOINTS OF ALUMINUM ALLOYS

Abstract
Some approaches to increase the resistance to corrosion of welding joints of wrought aluminum alloys, for example the resistance to stress corrosion have been considered. It has been researched the resistance to corrosion of butt welding joints obtained by argon shielded welding. It has been proposed to increase the resistance to stress corrosion by using the hard carbon dioxide for forced cooling of metal and fitting the subsequent heat treatment conditions. It has been established the values of resistance to stress corrosion of welding joints obtained as usual conditions as with the use of hard carbon dioxide. It was evaluated the functional connections between tempering conditions and strength of welding joints, that permitted to define the optimal heat treatment conditions to reach the high resistance to stress corrosion.
