Abstract

The paper briefly presents psychometric tradition of social intelligence research and gives an outline of its key milestones. Among them are an early period of multifactor tests, a period of alternative verbal, nonverbal and behavioral measures, a period of testing of theoretical models of social intelligence as a cognitive construct by means of confirmatory factor analysis. Key results of the above-mentioned periods are considered. The authors present a view on social intelligence in a framework of structural-dynamic theory of intelligence developed by D.V. Ushakov .The key assumptions and concepts of the theory are explicated and applied to explanation of some empirical phenomena of social intelligence research.
