Abstract

The phenomenon of social comparison is analyzed. It is noted that the priority variable, which is paid attention in the study of social comparison, is similarity. The definition of social comparison jealousy is given and the conditions of its origin are considered. Specific features of emotional, cognitive and behavioral response to a situation provoking the appearance of social comparison jealousy are determined.
