BUDDHISM AND QUANTUM PHYSICS: COMMON PROBLEM FIELD

Abstract
The article reveals the commonality of the philosophical outlook and methodology between Buddhism and quantum physics by analyzing such key concepts as space, time and causality. The doctrine of emptiness is considered within the Buddhist school of Madhyamaka prasangika, in particular, the interpretation of time made by Nagarjuna, the founder of the school. The issues of causality and time in Buddhism are compared with the same problems in modern physics - the arrow of time and entropy. Analysis of the theory of quantum nonlocality that has been recently proved is compared with the problem of interdependence in the doctrine of emptiness. This paper leads not only to the conclusion that Buddhism and physics have common problem field and methodology, but also to the need of interdisciplinary dialogue between them.
