FOREIGN LANGUAGE PRACTICAL COMPONENT FORMATION THROUGH QUASI-OCCUPATIONAL CASES

Abstract

Under the consideration of the paper, there is a complicated task of language practice-oriented competency component for students of language-related majoring in non-linguistic universities. To efficiently solve this task while delivering the disciplines in foreign languages, it is proposed to focus the instructors' attention on simulation-based learning technologies, in particular, quasi-professional cases, i.e. contextual learning involving simulating of plausible situations with standard speech cases, during the classes. We consider it advisable to widely apply this educational technology to practical learning in higher education as a compensating and useful experience in non-linguistic universities lacking of native speakers. Presented is a step-by-step methodology illustrated by the author's exercise on a quasi-professional problem case, which allows for alternative communicative solving within Practical Course of Translation.
