Abstract

The book of the French sociologist Natalie Heinich “Sociology of Art” is analyzed, which has not been translated into Russian or Belarusian yet. Today it is the only work to perform systematically all the present re-search approaches, which disciplinary constitute sociology of art and the main results, which are achieved with-in these approaches as well as it delivers the classification and characterization of numerous leading trends in aesthetic thought of the XXth century. The article discusses Natalie Heinich’s version on the periodization of the history of sociology of art, performs criticism against the pragmatic sociology of Pierre Bourdieu, defines epistemological and axiological principles of the contemporary sociology of art. The article presents the specific trend, which the French sociology of art took after Pierre Bourdieu.
