LIFE AND WORK OF BENEDETTO CROCE: CULTUROLOGICAL ASPECT

Abstract
Life and career of the famous Italian scientist Benedetto Croce is examined. It is noted that his life position was based on the principle “to be over politics and ideology”. As time went by that principle became the basis of his conception of “attantism” – waiting. One of the key concepts of Croce’s aesthetics – “expression” – is characterized. It is stated that Croce’s works had a great influence on the development of European philo-sophical thought in the first half of the 20th century, and that all innovative trends of this period in Italian art and literature were based on Croce’s aesthetics.
