“ZOMBIFICATION” OF BELARUSIAN WOODWORKING COMPANIES: ASSESSMENT AND WAYS OF OVERCOMING

Abstract

The article discusses various approaches to the definition of the term "zombie company", the existing criteria for classifying enterprises as "zombies", the reasons for the emergence of such organizations and the negative consequences of their existence. The author's classification of zombie companies is presented. Specific features of the emergence and functioning of zombie companies in transition economy are given. In accordance with the accepted criteria, an assessment of "zombification" level of three woodworking enterprises in the period from 2016 to 2020 was given, on the basis of which a number of measures were proposed to improve the situation. Conceptual approaches to eliminating the causes of "zombification" depending on the type of zombie company are presented. The role of bankruptcy procedures in the fulfilment of regulatory measures for this category of organizations is shown.
