Abstract

There is no single definition of the term "investment banking"in the modern economic literature and Belarusian legislation. The article considers the essence of investment banking and its role in the formation of the financial market. As a result of theoretical research, the author's definition of the concept of "investment banking" is proposed. We study the main passive and active investment strategies of a commercial Bank. Based on the analysis of the current state of investment banking in the Republic of Belarus, development of the derivatives market in the Republic of Belarus the article shows the main factors slowing the development of investment banking and the main directions of further development of investment banking in the Republic of Belarus.
