PROBLEMS OF SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE INDUSTRIAL SECTOR OF THE ECONOMY

Abstract

Overcoming technical backwardness, providing advanced rates of economic growth, increasing labor productivity, modernizing the country’s production machinery, and introducing digital technologies are extremely urgent tasks facing Russia. In such conditions, the role of industry as a catalyst for scientific and technological progress and the driver of social development is growing, but the current macroeconomic situation in the country does not contribute to the disclosure of the fundamental functions of the industrial sector, impedes the assured development of the newest technological structures, leads to deindustrialization. Now Russia’s transition to a sustainable development path depends on the speed of change in the structure of industrial production, creation of conditions for the departure from the raw material model of the economy to a model based on industries with high added value. The factor of economic growth in the next few years will be the modernization of traditional industries and the development of new technological segments. At the same time, the precarious position of the production segment, coupled with the exhaustion of the potential for growth in the raw materials industries, the effect of a number of factors destabilizing the world economy, negative trends in economic development create certain limits along this path.
