Abstract

Directions of improvement of state support of entrepreneurship in small and middle urban settlements in Belarus are considered. In the conditions of the existing social and economic transformations the problems of development of small urban settlements are one of the priorities of state policy and touch upon all the spheres of development: economy, demography, ecology. Small business thus acts as an important factor of stability of existence of the region, promotes its sustainable development. Effective state support of a given sector will strengthen the competitive mechanism of economy which gives it due flexibility, promotes mobilisation of financial and industrial resources.
