THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE STOCK MARKET IN BELARUS: CONDITION AND PROBLEMS

Abstract
The article reflects the current situation and problems in the stock market in Belarus. The author defined a role of the stock market in the development of the national economy. The key conditions for effective functioning of the stock market were revealed. The main factors, which constrain the development of the national stock market, were considered. The main changes in the legislation to harmonize the Belarusian stock law with international standards were described. The author claims the necessity to develop the corporate bond market, which deals with the alternative tool to attract investment resources in the business environment, when compared to traditional bank loans. The vital preconditions and development trends for the Belarusian stock market were highlighted.
