Abstract

The component composition of phraseological units and proverbs includes lexical units denoting the names of food products, among which one can emerge those related to flour, flour products and cereals. The article deals with set units of a language containing the above-mentioned components. The features of their structures, semantic transformations and cultural orientation are considered in this article. The composition of many phraseological units and proverbs includes the lexical unit bread, which contains a number of meanings: from the main food product to reflecting various aspects of human life. Other names of flour products are less commonly used: a pie, a loaf, a kalach, a pancake, a flat cake, gingerbread. The lexical units, having in their structure an element directly related to cereals (manna, grain, cereals, wheat) are researched in this article. The set linguistic units being analyzed have their own national features. They are a reflection of the Belarusian people mentality, their ethnocultural characteristics, and the universal foundations of human life.
