Abstract
This article is devoted to the study of the formation of the semantic field of the credit sphere of activity in the German language of the Early High German period. It discusses the main reasons for the functioning of variational forms of credit nominations in the analyzed period. The article states the emergence of a structural model characteristic of the analyzed period, which is complex nomination. The latter is a specific feature of term formation in the Early High German language. It was revealed that composites were not only assigned to the concepts of the credit sphere of activity and realized special meanings due to the attributive component, but were also able to reflect current changes in the credit sphere. Conclusions are made that the features of the structural and formal development of credit vocabulary are associated both with the evolution of the investigated field of activity and with the peculiarity of the language situation in Germany in the 14th – 17th centuries.
