COMPARATIVE CHARACTERISTIC OF PROPER NAMES IN PAROEMIAS OF THE ENGLISH, GERMAN, RUSSIAN AND BELARUSIAN LANGUAGES

Abstract
The article is dedicated to the identification and description of the peculiarities of the use of proper names in the paroemias of the English, German, Russian and Belarusian languages. This analysis has a linguistic relevance as in the context of languages that are typologically close, e.g. by comparing of the English and German paroemias, as in the context of languages that are typologically distant, e.g. by comparing of the German and Belarusian languages. The study has shown that the use of proper names in the paroemias of all the above-mentioned languages is characterized by the use of a wide range of proper names. The most popular groups of types of proper names in these paroemias are personal names (including representative names, names of literary heroes and famous people), names of towns, rivers, holidays. In addition, the most popular proper names in English paroemias are names of the characters of myths, legends and religious texts, names of counties; in German paroemias – names of biblical, mythological and proper German origin, names of towns; in Russian and Belarusian paroemias – personal names in full or diminutive forms, names of regions, oblasts and settlements.
