Abstract

The article deals with the group of verbs formed from substantives in Russian and Belarusian languages with the structure «обез- + -и- / -е- (ть)» / «абяз- + -і- / -е-(ць)» and the values 'to deprive / deprived of what is called motivating noun'. The regularity and productivity of these word-formative types in the compared languages contributes to the emergence of a large number of occasional verbs, which correspond to a fairly large number of model-organized derivational combinations with different types of semantic content. Taking into account the lexical and word-formative motivation of discrete correspondences, the nominative series of such verbs may include derivational combinations with both substantive and adjectival components. When comparing seemingly identical structures with the inclusion of units of different levels in such closely related languages as Russian and Belarusian, it is possible to identify a number of formal, semantic and functional differences.
