Abstract

The article presents the results of a study of the relationship between alloy types and technological schemes for producing non-ferrous metal products of the 10th – 18th centuries from the territory of Northern and Central Belarus. The author found that for casting with minimal modifications, jewelers mainly used alloys that are characterized by a high degree of fluidity and density of castings (tin brass, tin bronze, tin-lead bronze, tin-lead alloys and unalloyed low-melting metals). It was determined that the need for pressure treatment of blanks with intermediate annealing determined the predominant use of two-component brasses, lead brasses and lead bronzes for these purposes. It is also noted that for some products made of complex multicomponent alloys, the content of alloying components often correlates with the technological schemes of the items made from them.
