Abstract
Unprotected road users are pedestrians, cyclists and drivers. With their participation, a significant number of road accidents occur in Belarus. Taking into account the specificity of such categories of road users, the severity of the consequences of these accidents as a rule is high. Therefore, the development of measures to improve traffic safety for unprotected categories of road users will significantly affect the situation with accidents.
On the territory of the Gomel region there is a set of measures to improve road safety «Good road». One of the areas of work stipulated by this document is the development of measures to improve road safety for unprotected categories of road users. This article presents the results of a statistical analysis of the accident rate with the participation of such categories of road users in the Gomel region and, on its basis, suggests ways to reduce the accident rate with the participation of unprotected categories of road users.
