Abstract

Protective coatings of various types are increasingly used in modern industry. The study of the operational properties of coatings, which include the surface quality after application, is an urgent task that determines the operational characteristics and the possibility of using machine parts with coatings without additional machining. The surface roughness of the samples with diffusion-applied protective single-component coatings based on chromium and vanadium carbides was investigated and the area of possible operation of the parts was determined. Of practical interest is the study of the influence of technological factors of coating application (changes in the percentage and type of the activator of the saturation process, the percentage of the ballast additive) on the arithmetic mean height of microdimensions.
