THE STRUCTURE EVOLUTION OF DISPERSED PHASE OF GREASES DURING TRIBOLOGICAL CONTACT AND ITS IFLUENCE ON RESOURCE OF FRICTION UNITS

Abstract
The article presents the mechanism of evolution of structure of the dispersed phase of grease during tribological contact of friction pair. It is shown that the destruction of greases modified by nanosized additives occurs at later stages of tribological contact as compared to unmodified greases and it is caused by the increased strength and improved oil-retaining capacity of binary dispersed phase of modified greases. At the same time the released from structural skeleton nanosized particles of extreme pressure additives continue to provide the high operability of grease in the later stages of tribological contact. The analysis of the structure of the dispersed phase of the grease at any stage of tribological testing or operation of the friction unit gives an indication of the operability of the grease and assess its residual resource.
