THE DOCTRINE OF SIGNS IN THE WORKS OF THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE POLOTSK NEO-SCHOLASTICISM

Abstract

The article considers the issues of the sign in the intellectual heritage of the authors who worked at the Polotsk Jesuit Academy. The study is based on the works of Josepho Angiolini and Vincentio Buczyńsky. The doctrine of signs was a significant part in the development not only the scholastic tradition; it was in the focus of the philosophy of the XIX century and does not lose its modernity in the XXI century. Because of all mentioned the research on doctrine of signs in the heritage of Polotsk authors has a high level of relevancy. The aim of the research is to study the theory of the sign in the context of the philosophical system built in the Polotsk Jesuit Academy. It will allow to reconstruct more fully the main ideas of the authors belonging to this trend. The scientific merit of this article is new knowledge in the problematic of understanding the sign by the representatives of Polotsk neo-scholasticism, connection between idea and sign, as well as the classification of signs proposed by the authors.
